| 28.02.2025 | Sony Music Publishing Germany signs global deal with HIM's Ville Valo |

Great news! Sony Music Publishing Germany has signed a worldwide publishing deal with songwriter and artist Ville Valo. The agreement encompasses both HIMs back catalogue and Valos future works.
With over 10 million records sold worldwide, more than 500 million streams, and 11 gold and seven platinum certifications, Ville Valo stands as one of the most influential artists in the international rock scene said a statement from the publisher.
"My songs are a bunch of mischievous outsiders in dire need of guidance and disciplinary action, and I feel confident Patrick and his team extraordinaire will tend to their peculiar needs with gusto, giving them more than a fair chance in life." said Ville Valo.
Founded in 1991, HIM made history as the first Finnish act to achieve gold certification in the US with their album Dark Light. The track Join Me in Death has amassed 64 million streams on Spotify alone and continues to enjoy strong airplay on radio and TV worldwide.
In todays rock and gothic scenes, Ville Valo remains an omnipresent and unique icon said Patrick Strauch, managing director, Sony Music Publishing Germany. His voice and charisma continue to captivate a new generation of rock fans while enchanting his longtime followers. Sony Music Publishing Germany is honoured to collaborate with this extraordinary artist and the voice of an entire generation.
From ourselves we would like to add that the news is really great. Firstly, it shows that Ville is already working on new music. Secondly, it is more likely that the whole catalog of the band will be properly reissued by Sony (by the example of the recent reissues of the first 4 albums on vinyl we can conclude that the work will be done with quality and attention to detail). Thirdly, this is an international publishing contract, which means that BMG will most likely not release any more of their shoddy work under the name of HIM. We look forward to fruitful results from this cooperation, properly designed pages on streaming platforms, and a properly reissued Sire catalog!
